...without the minivan of course! (No offense to my mini-van-driving friends. I know they're more convenient and wonderful. I just. can't. do. it. haha!)
Monday, September 24th, was Reid's first official soccer game/practice. And I think this is just the beginning of a very long sports career ahead of us! As a parent, it's truly incredible to see your child thrive somewhere. And when I say Reid thrived on that soccer field... I mean it. He THRIVED. Ben and I have never seen him follow direction so well and concentrate so hard - all while having the time of his life! It was very clear that sports is going to be Reid's "thing" - and we love that. And are so thankful to have found something that he is passionate about at such a young age.
We registered Reider in the Little Rockers 3 year old program through the LRFC and he plays on Monday evenings from 5:30 - 6:30pm. Since they are so young, it's just one hour per week where they learn ball handling skills and soccer basics. It's perfect.
He has been wanting to play on a team for the last year and a half. Every time we would drive by the fields near our house he would say, "Mommy! Tell them I am 4 and I can pway on their team!!!" So you can only imagine his excitement yesterday as we were getting ready for his first "soccer game"...
Here's a pic... he's been wearing his new soccer cleats and shin guards for the last week. Too cute!
We signed up (very last minute) with two of his buddies, Sam Hurtado and Owen Smith. When we got out to the fields yesterday, it was so fun to see several other boys from their class at school - Ben Bibles, Murphy Galivant, & Cole Sessions. They all had such a great time together!
Here's our little man listening very intently to Coach Matty
Circle time to learn names and rules
Reid showed everyone his ball trick of a "head bounce"
Reid and his buddy Ben Bibles (or "Benny Boo" as Reid calls him)
Such a big boy!
Entertaining his friends and playing in the dirt while he waits his turn
I just love this picture! He had a constant perma-grin on his face the whole time!
Sam Hurtado, Reid, & Ben Bibles
Sam & Reid - goofing off as usual!
Talking to Coach Matty
Reid was VERY serious about scoring goals...
Mommy and Reid after the game
Our little fam of 3
These two completely have my heart!
This is the funniest pic of the evening... Reid is sad because I ran out of fruit snacks... Owen is giving me his "tough" face... and Sam was trying to be as tall as Owen. Cute boys!
