My Life: The Soundtrack

It's no secret...I LOVE MUSIC.  And the other day I was sent a link to Bzoink ...basically a webapp that helps you layout the 'soundtrack for your life'.  It was sent as a joke and I'm not at all interested in the webapp, but it did get me thinking about what songs I would choose...  So, I began making a list under all the categories that Bzoink listed (as well as a few of my own).  These are not all songs that you may like or even consider good music, but they are the songs that remind me of a particular person or point in time.   So, without further adieu...here they are...most of them are in the player below as well:

John Mayer

So last night was the highlight of my sister Neely's year...JOHN MAYER CONCERT...she loves him.  You can tell in some of the pictures how excited she was...the expressions on her face are priceless!  (Unfortunately, I'm having problems uploading the pics, though.)  Blaire and I said we were there for moral support only, but we really had a great time as well.  We even met a new friend who sat right in front of us.  We named him Steve-O and had his whole life story mapped out amongst the three of us (a bad people-watching habit we started long ago).  As the evening progressed, however, we found out his real name was Greg...beyond that we didn't want any more information.  He was a bit shady, but we don't need to type all those details here... so I digress.

Sadly, me and Jen Aniston still are not BFFs (I call her Jen cause we're tight like that). We weren't allowed anywhere near the front to meet, see, or just simply wave at her because Neely had a professional camera and we were pegged as paparazzi.  Seriously, they made Neely take her camera all the way back out to our car.  (That wasn't a short trip, by the way.) Oh well...we shall meet her one day...

Colbie Caillat opened and I have to say that I was not impressed.  Maybe it was just her style of music that didn't transfer well into a concert setting...or the fact that we were all the way back on the grass at Schmirnoff / Superpages...whatever it's called.  But she was just ok.  Then John Mayer came out...incredible guitar player...music was good...but he definitely played the entire concert with no shirt.  I know it was hot and all, but come on...seriously?  Guess his stylist was off for the night...   Like I said, we had a fun night...it was great spending some quality time with Blaire before she leaves us and moves back to OKC...we will miss her so much!  And, I'm always up for some live music...love it.

Moving on to a completely different subject...  Ben was shocked and awed yesterday morning when he found out that there was a cat in this world who is actually larger than our Fat Jack...44 pounds! He sent me this video and story...check it out.

Randomness

Several random things from today...completely unrelated, but most of them excited me nonetheless:

1. WeAreTeachers launched our marketplace in Facebook!!!  You can check it out here: I Am Teacher Marketplace.  This is HUGE...many, many hours of work (still many more to come), but a very important milestone for our little company.  It's so exciting to watch it take off and grow! (If you have a Fb account, search for 'I Am Teacher' in the applications and add it to your profile...pretty cool.)

2. On a more personal note...our family received some VERY EXCITING news today as well...  My brother-in-law, Joe, found out this morning that he has been accepted to Columbia for their MBA program.  We are so proud of you, Joe! (And very excited to come visit New York City...)  He and his wife, Candice, will be moving to NY in January...in the mean time we love that they are here in the metroplex after four long years in the San Diego area.  We all went out for a celebratory dinner tonight and had a wonderful time... here they are...

3. Have I mentioned that I freakin' love our church (Keystone Church)???  After dinner with the fam, I headed over to Simply You (owned by our good friend, Melody) to meet up with some of the women for a ministry event.  What an incredibly refreshing night to catch up with old friends and meet new ones as well.  I've been so busy with every day life that I really haven't taken time out to just stop, breathe, and take it all in.  Thank you all for giving me the opportunity to do that - you ladies minister to me every day and I am so thankful you are in my life.  And a HUGE shout out to Tracy for all of her hard work and organization...thank you!  (A side plug... if you live in the area and haven't been by Simply You... ya need to try it... yummm!)

4. This next item does not excite me due to obvious reasons...  I was saddened today to see that the little town Ben and I lived in outside of Minneapolis made the news because of a plane crash.  My heart goes out to that community...we miss our friends from Owatonna every day!

5.  And finally... My sister got she and I tickets to the John Mayer/ Colbie Caillat concert tomorrow night.  I know, I know...I said I was a music snob...go ahead and throw stones at me for going to this concert.  But, I am excited...very excited!  Not so much because of the music, but because it will be a fun night with my little sister (and one of our "surrogate" sisters, Blaire Bender).  And, because I am secretly hoping to see/meet Jennifer Aniston.  This may sound weird, but I know that she and I would be BFFs if we ever had the chance to meet...

So that's all for tonight...heading to bed to catch up on sleep.  But before I do, I just have to point out the obvious...I'm a list maker.  My apologies go out to all those that are annoyed by this, but it will continue.
