To bring you up to speed quickly... These last couple of weeks Ben and I have been researching and talking with different agencies and adoption services. It was very overwhelming and at many times discouraging, but all of those feelings went away when we spoke with Kay. Kay is part of a private law firm based out of California who specializes in domestic infant adoption. She made us feel so comfortable right from the very start and has been so great about answering all of our questions. Long story short, her law firm is the group we will be working through (instead of an agency) to facilitate our adoption of "Baby P" - we are so excited and so thankful to have found them!
We now have Paperwork Part 1 in our hands and our goal is to complete that over the next week. After the first round of paperwork...we then have a second round of paperwork (it's endless!), then we have to get all of our FBI fingerprinting done, background checks, health records udpated, and start our home study. (The home study and everything it encompasses is an entire blog post in and of itself.) Lots to do!!! But, our mindset is to take it one day at a time...every step we complete, gets us that much closer to the baby God has set apart for our family.
Again, thank you all for your prayers and support - and please keep 'em comin'! We couldn't do this without you...much love from our house to yours!

Sounds like an exciting time for you guys. You guys are going to be such a blessing to a little boy or girl somewhere that God is going to create. I'm so excited for you and Baby P.
What amazing steps you've taken! We're in the middle of a similar process, though we're planning to go through an agency, and I've been struggling to find a local social worker for our home study. (The agency we're looking at is smaller and out of town.)
I'm not sure how long you've been at this, but if it's been as briefly as your last blog post until now, your progress is remarkable. Continuing to pray...
Hi Holly! Dave & I were amazed at the strength & grace that you showed in your previous post...how I wish I could show even 1/4 that much grace in our journey right now! We are truly happy for you....we are not as far ahead on this journey as you, but we both felt that you sounded out ALL the vastly different emotions that we've experienced as well. After reading this post, I'm interested if you're going through the Adoption Network Law Center of California?...we have received info & calls from them, plus one of my colleagues adopted through them 2 years ago. I would love to talk with you more about it! Prayers for you both!
You guys are AWESOME!
All the paperwork and stress now will be worth it in the end. We are excited for you and Ben. We will keep you in our prayers. Kaitlyn is praying for a girl for you. She thinks boys like her brother are a pain.
Sweet friend I will be praying for you and your hubby, as well as Baby P, during this long road.
As an adoptive parent, who may not be able to have children naturally, I know what you're about to be going through and trust me - it's TOTALLY worth it!!
If you'd like I can have Judy H add this to our prayer list at the Convention and we can be praying for you as well! E-mail or comment and let me know!!
Holly,
I'm seriously laughing right now as I think of you flying through the paper work, everything marked perfectly, color coordinated, alphabetical order... who wouldn't want such an amazing person to be their child's adopted mom :)! I will email you if you need a reference for a great home study person. Give Ben a hug for us...
