I Am An Official Soccer Mom Now...

...without the minivan of course! (No offense to my mini-van-driving friends. I know they're more convenient and wonderful. I just. can't. do. it. haha!)

Monday, September 24th, was Reid's first official soccer game/practice. And I think this is just the beginning of a very long sports career ahead of us! As a parent, it's truly incredible to see your child thrive somewhere. And when I say Reid thrived on that soccer field... I mean it. He THRIVED. Ben and I have never seen him follow direction so well and concentrate so hard - all while having the time of his life! It was very clear that sports is going to be Reid's "thing" - and we love that. And are so thankful to have found something that he is passionate about at such a young age.

We registered Reider in the Little Rockers 3 year old program through the LRFC and he plays on Monday evenings from 5:30 - 6:30pm. Since they are so young, it's just one hour per week where they learn ball handling skills and soccer basics. It's perfect.

He has been wanting to play on a team for the last year and a half.  Every time we would drive by the fields near our house he would say, "Mommy! Tell them I am 4 and I can pway on their team!!!" So you can only imagine his excitement yesterday as we were getting ready for his first "soccer game"...

Here's a pic... he's been wearing his new soccer cleats and shin guards for the last week. Too cute!

We signed up (very last minute) with two of his buddies, Sam Hurtado and Owen Smith. When we got out to the fields yesterday, it was so fun to see several other boys from their class at school - Ben Bibles, Murphy Galivant, & Cole Sessions.  They all had such a great time together!

Here's our little man listening very intently to Coach Matty

Circle time to learn names and rules

Reid showed everyone his ball trick of a "head bounce"

Reid and his buddy Ben Bibles (or "Benny Boo" as Reid calls him)

Such a big boy!

Entertaining his friends and playing in the dirt while he waits his turn

I just love this picture!  He had a constant perma-grin on his face the whole time!

Reid was VERY serious about scoring goals...

Our little fam of 3

These two completely have my heart!

This is the funniest pic of the evening... Reid is sad because I ran out of fruit snacks... Owen is giving me his "tough" face... and Sam was trying to be as tall as Owen.  Cute boys!

More Conversations With Our 3 Year Old...

A rundown of Reid's day at school (in his words) on the car ride home:
"Oh yes, Mommy. I had such a fun day! Sam and I pwayed wif scissors and cut things. Gage had on a gween shirt. Then we talked about apples and got to eat wots of them. My favowite is wed apples. Then I told my teacher NOooo...I not want to go to Ms Paige's office!"...

(Ms. Paige is the Preschool Director. And, unfortunately, Reid was done talking about his day after that. Convenient...for him.) :/

I don't know which part of his day to worry about more... The cutting of "things" with scissors... The fact that he is now noticing other people's outfit ensembles... Or why in the world he was threatened with the Director's office. This kiddo will keep me busy for sure! Oh how we love him!

Best Friends

At Reid's school today they talked about friends and what it means to be a friend. Then the teachers had the kids draw a picture with their very best friend.

Here's Reid's picture:

Melt. My. Heart.
We are truly blessed with the greatest Daddy!

First Day of PreK3!

On Monday, August 20th, Reid started his first day of PreK3 in Miss Amy and Miss Jodi's class at Second Presbyterian Preschool.  When did my baby boy get SO BIG?!?

To say he was excited would be an understatement!  Reid loves school which makes this Mommy very happy.

Sam and Reid on the first day in their new classroom.

I know that we have such a fun year ahead!  We had a blast this summer, but I am thankful to be getting back into the fall schedule and routine.  AND... hopefully that will help me keep the blog updated more often - ha!

Meet The Teacher - 3C

On Friday, August 17th, we got to meet Reid's new teachers for PreK3.  We LOVE LOVE LOVE Ms. Jodi and Ms. Amy! Reid will be going to preschool again this year at Second Presbyterian here in West Little Rock.  He will be in school Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30am - 3:00pm.  Along with his big classroom time he will also have Spanish class, music class, art, technology, science, and Chapel (all rotated thru the week). Such a big boy!

Saying hello to his teachers

With Miss Jodi and Miss Amy (this is the best pic I could get!)

We were also very excited to find out that some of his little buddies would be in his class again this year!  Here is Sam, Cole, and Reid.  Jack Kella and Gage will be joining him again as well!

Someone was too busy playing to take a pic with Mommy...

Reid-isms

Ben and I completely love the age that Reid is at - 3 is so fun(ny)!  He says the most random things that crack us up so here are a few that I have written down...

Me: "Reid, it's time for bed."
Reid: "No thank you, Mommy. It's been a great day so I'm just gonna stay right here and play with my trains a little longer." At least he's polite about it???

Reid cleared his plate at dinner tonight except for the vegetables, of course. When I asked him to take a bite he looked at me...put his little hand on his hip...and said very disappointedly, "Mommy, you KNOW I not wike bwoccowi and cawotts."

Ben: "Reid, do you remember your Bible verse for this week?"
Reid: "God is with you wherever you go. Even when I go to K-Mart."

Reid just named his new dinosaur "Bono"... Makes this Mommy happy! Must be doin' something right ;)

Me: "Dinner's ready!"
Reid (on the verge of total melt down): "NOOOOOO!!!! I'm pwaying videos!!! I don't like dinner!!!"
Ben: "Reid, you can come sit down at the table and eat dinner or lose all videos for the rest of the night."
Reid (walking into the kitchen with angelic smile): "I just wove dinner! It wooks dewicious, Mommy!"
Blackmail works, people.

When you're 3 yrs old, time-outs can be quite dramatic. Especially when you look at your Mom and say "Are you happy now?!?" and she tacks on another minute. Wow.

And finally... Reid has begun noticing that people look different from each other.  We have many talks in our house about loving ALL people - skinny, large, short, tall, etc. So the other night we were sitting at a restaurant with some friends and Reid began grabbing my arm and pointing at the lady sitting directly behind us. "Mommy!!  Mommy!!  Look at her!!! Mommy!" Embarrassed and without even turning around, I asked him quietly to sit down in his chair.  As he's trying his best to obey he loudly says, "Well I'm not SAYING that she's fat...".  Oy vey.

Random iPhone Pictures

I am notorious for only carrying my iPhone rather than my camera, so I thought I'd dump a few iPhone pictures from the last half of the summer...

Our little fam at one of many days/evenings spent at our pool

Did I mention that we are definitely 3???  This fit was in response to a song that was playing on the radio... haha

Beach Trip #2

Reid loved the beach so much (talked about it ALL THE TIME) that we snuck away one more time to Corpus Christi at the end of July.  Unfortunately, Ben had to be out of town for work, but we were joined by Doc & KK and of course Aunt NeeNee and Uncle Craig.

Get ready for LOTS more beach pictures of our cute 3 year old...

During our visit we also celebrated mine and Doc's birthdays
